Ange Swana – La Chute (the Fall), 2017
Ange Swana:
I question the human being in general - his nature, his aspirations, the way he achieves them, his functional or dysfunctional mode. This quest is written individually, and collectively - in relation to an environment: the environment, the society in which we live, our personal history and our common history. My artistic work questions the body: physical, intellectual and psychic. The body is a witness. It reveals a journey, specific to each human being. It is both a transmitter of internal information - and a receiver of waves. I explore the link between these different facets. A body delivers information: to the observers, but also to each of us (whether we are aware of it or not). Pushing this observation perhaps allows us to better understand who we are: what constitutes our ego, how we define ourselves in relation to others, our relationship to the different pressures to which we are subjected (social and political, economic and cultural). I write scenarios on bodies. Like an intimate book that tells the story of life, the gradations and the psychic or physical degradations. The body as a surface where the progressive mutation of the book of life is marked.
