"A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots." Marcus Garvey

Dieudonné Djiela Kamkang's work addresses the issue of youth and the importance of knowing one's history in order to give new generations a solid foundation. Through his works, the artist explores the notion and the question of "restitution" while showing the role and the place of the traditional culture in the development and the future. He invites us to return to our roots, to follow the model of Sankofa (Ashanti concept teaching us the importance of learning from the past to build the future).

Dieudonné holds a master from the Beaux-Arts university in Douala where he lives and works.
