Amadou Opa Bathily
Amadou Opa Bathily is a graduate of the National Institute of Arts (INA) and Conservatoire des Arts et Métiers Multimédia Balla Fasséké Kouyaté (CAMM-BFK) of Bamako. He took his first steps in creation at a very young age in a workshop of art salvage (Atelier Miria) from where he came into contact with several materials especially metal.It is thanks to his experience in different art schools that he had a new vision in relation to hard material like metal.
The painting of Amadou Opa Bathily is identified through his energy in the creation and the extraordinary mastery of hard materials. For him everything can be flexible and enduring at the same time when the material and the artist control themselves. He has participated in several collective exhibitions and training workshops in Mali and Tunisia, notably at the Interference of Tunisia (Art of Light). Opa is part of the second promotion of the qualitative development programme of the KÔrè cultural centre in Ségou and winner of the contest of the Cité Nationale 2017. He works in several mediums, namely painting, sculpture and installation to name a few.
