Zouhair Chihad | Artist

Zouhair Chihad, winner of the National Plastic Arts Prize, describes himself as a multidisciplinary artist. Indeed, by combining several techniques, he manages to transcribe human silhouettes in his works, which become a visual metaphor for the intrinsic complexity of fractals. Having grown up in an area rich in traditional architecture, Chihad has drawn inspiration from the world around him to create works that are as original as they are captivating, revealing human forms.

"My artistic journey is a journey from childhood to discovery. I grew up in a neighbourhood rich in traditional architecture, steeped in Islamic influence, where every street revealed a visual symphony of geometric shapes, bewitching patterns and delicate ornamentation. The shimmering colours and meticulous details of the mosques and ancient houses shaped my perception of the world around me... Each piece is a dialogue between the ancient and the modern, an attempt to make the invisible visible, to translate the complexity of fractals into an understandable artistic language."
