Born in Tafilalet in 1946, Mohamed Azouzi entered the École des beaux-arts in Casablanca at the age of 20. He then pursued his studies in Paris, first at the Beaux-Arts and later at the Arts Décoratifs.

He exhibited for the first time in Casablanca in 1970, but he would spend the majority of his artistic career in France, particularly in Paris. There, he caught the attention of Parisian art lovers, including Jacques Chirac, who was then the Mayor of Paris in the late 1970s. Consequently, both the Musée d’Art Moderne and the City of Paris acquired his works. Abroad, he also exhibited in the United States, Japan, Russia, and Belgium.

His dreamlike universe, characterized by shimmering colors, is a tribute to the Moroccan land and scenes of daily life.

In 2025, one of his works, belonging to the collection of the Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, was classified as national heritage of the Kingdom of Morocco, marking a major institutional recognition of his work in the history of contemporary Moroccan art.
