Ahlam Lemseffer
Ahlam Lemseffer is a leading Moroccan visual artist whose practice spans painting, sculpture, and installation. Born in El Jadida, she lives and works in Casablanca. After studying at the École des Arts Décoratifs and ESAG Penninghen in Paris, she obtained a degree in English literature from the University of Paris VIII.
Since the 1980s, her work has gained strong recognition on the national and international scene, with exhibitions at the VERA Museum (Saint-Germain-en-Laye), Palais d’Iéna (Paris), the Hoover Public Friends Gallery (Birmingham, Alabama), CDG Gallery (Rabat), the Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (Rabat), and the Cairo Bank Gallery (Amman), among many others. She has also participated in major international biennials, including Cairo, Alexandria, Graz, Tunis, and the International Biennial of Islamic Art in Iran.
Honored with numerous awards, including a prestigious decoration from the French Academy of Sciences and Letters, she has been a member of the honorary committee of the Société des Arts Francophones since 1994. In 2012, she founded the MAC in Briech-Assilah, now a reference point in Morocco’s contemporary art landscape.
Her works are held in significant public and private collections in Morocco and abroad.
